The girl and her pooch

The girl and her pooch

Once upon a time there was a girl who lost some weight, but still had a lower belly pooch.

She tried ab exercises, which only helped a little. She took up running, which only helped a little. She thought that maybe she was destined to have the lower belly pooch forever.

Then, one day, she was trolling around on Pinterest researching blog topics when she came across a pin offering an alternative solution to the lower belly pooch issue.

She did not like the picture on the pin and did not want to repin it for her blog topic, but she promised herself to put a link to the article on Wold Fitness Notebook.

The suggested culprit for the girl’s lower belly pooch? Tight hip flexors. The girl was skeptical and decided to troll around on the internet do more research and found several corroborating articles suggesting that, in fact, tight hip flexors can lead to lower belly pooch.

The girl read an article on Livestrong.com titled “How To Get Rid of Pooch With Hip Flexor Stretches” that said:

…when your hip flexors and lower back muscles are tight, you tend to adopt a pelvis-tilted-forward posture that accentuates any flab on your belly.

Intrigued, the girl researched some more and found an article that stated that the problem can be made even worse by running on the treadmill. Running on the treadmill is a common occurrence for the girl, so she decided that maybe she should try some of the solutions offered.

The girl is hopeful that if she does the recommended stretches twice a day for 30 seconds in each stance, that she will see an improvement in her lower belly pooch.

At the very least, the girl figured, a little extra stretching never hurt anyone!

Moral of the story, #1: the solution to your problem might not be as obvious as you think.

Moral of the story, #2: STRETCH!
